About Our Institution

The Assam Institute of Management was established in 1988 as an autonomous institute of the Government of Assam. Prior to its establishment, several diagnostic studies conducted by the State Government identified management inefficiency and a lack of professionally trained management personnel as key reasons for the underperformance of State Level Public Enterprises and various government-sponsored projects. In response, the Government of Assam promoted the Institute as an autonomous body under the Public Enterprises Department to address these challenges.
